A devotee's intention of doing so is to receive the graceand blessings from them. In the 2nd Vachanamrut of Sarangpur, LordShree Swaminarayan states that, 'By doing Darshan properly, adevotee develops affection for God and God develops affection forthe devotee'. He also mentions Dharmapur's Queen Kushalkunvar bai,who set an example of how to do Darshan as she did so with anattentive mind and a fixed gaze. Therefore, Darshan is an event inconsciousness where there is an interaction in presence between theDevotee and God._____________________________________________SSTBhuj SSMBApp Designed & Developed By: ShreesoftechWebsite: http://www.shreesoftech.comEmail: [email protected]_____________________________________________

What isEkadashi?Ekadashi follows the Hindu calendar on the movement of themoon. amonth has 30 days and are divided into two periods of15days. Firstperiod of the month is called Sud (Sukla pax). Duringthis period, the Moon's size is increasing. The second period of themonth iscalled Vad ( Krishan pax). During this period, the moon'ssize isdecreasing. Ekadashi occurs on the 11th day of each period(twice amonth). Ekadashi mean 11 (Ek meaning 1 and dash meaning10therefore 11). It is tradition in Hindu religion to observe fastonthis day and is considered a holy day. Story of EkadashiEkadashiis a Vrat (austerity) which started many years ago. OnceLordNarayan was resting and a demon call Mundanav challenged theLordfor a fight. Mundanav had a boon (wish) that he could notbedefeated by a man. So Lord Narayan produced a damsel fromelevenspiritual parts of his body. Mundanav was so attracted tothisdamsel that he asked her to marry her. The damsel agreed withacondition that he had to fight her and destroy her and onlythenwill she marry him. Mundanav was blinded by passion and didnoteven think twice and agreed to fight with her. During thefight,Mundanav was killed by the damsel. Lord Narayan was pleasedwiththe damsel and granted her a boon. The damsel asked LordNarayanthat ‘as I evolved from your Ekadash Indriyas (elevenspiritualparts of the body) I shall be known as Ekadashi. I amfilled withTaap (penance) so I desire that people should observeEkadashiVrata on this day and control their Ekadash Indriyas onthis day.Lord Narayan agreed and ever since all Hindus performEkadashi Vratby fasting or eating farrari foods. A number of peopledo NirjalaEkadashi Vrat on this day by not taking any food ordrink.Swaminarayan Bhagwan explains in the Vachnamrut that atrueEkadashi Vrat is when one withdraws the ten indriyas andtheeleventh, the mind, from their worldly activities and focusesthemon God and devotional activities. Janmangal Namavali & Stotram 1.7
Janmangal Namavali Janmangal Stotram Read and Listen to the108names of Bhagwan Shree Swaminarayan on the move and attainbliss;Shatanand Swami says “Those individuals who read, study orlistento the names within the Janmangal or those who makeotherindividuals read, study or listen to the Janmangal willneverexperience confusion and chaos in their lives.” chaturvargasidhyarthe jape vineeyogh “Those who chant the JanmangalStotraachieve Dharma (moral emancipation), Arth (worldlyprosperity),Kaam (fulfilment of worldly desires) and Moksh (finalliberation)”.Whats is the Janmangal Namavali? The basis of thechanting ofBhagwan’s name is that within the meaning of Bhagwan’snamesresides the divine qualities, divine powers and meditation ofHissupremacy. Subsequently, the question will arise thatBhagwanpossesses innumerable names. In the latter part of the tenthcantoof the Shreemad Bhagvat, Bhagwan Himself has made aconfessionbefore Muchukunda. janma karmaa bhidhaanaani, santi mesahastrashahna shakyante’nu sankhyaatu, manantattvaanma yaapi hi“Oh Muchkund! My births, deeds and names are thousands. No one isable tocalculate them. Perhaps, although impossible, a powerful onemay beable to count the molecules upon this earth, yet thatpowerful onecannot reach the end of My divine innumerable names.”Hence, whichspecific names, from the innumerable ones, should onedepend on?All those divine names are of Bhagwan’s; therefore theyare allequally fruitful and full of prominence. However, ShatanandSwamihas given the topmost names in which its meaning pervadeswithBhagwan’s most potent greatness. In the Mahabharat, Bhishmapitahasillustrated to Yudhishtir that there is no end to the greatnessofBhagwan’s names. Within this Udhav Sampraday, for the welfareofdevotees, Shatanand Swami accumulated 1008 names of Shree Harifromthe infinite names and composed the Sarvamangal Stotra.Thereafter,so that the much dispersed humankind in today’s age canachievemore fruits in a limited time, he benevolently compiledtheJanmangal Stotra (Janmangal Namavali), containing 108 namesofShree Hari._____________________________________________SWAMINARAYAN SSMB
